Two Romance Authors make a Top Ten List of Male Celebrities

THIS IS OUR 10th PODCAST!!! Hope you’ve been enjoying. If there’s a topic you’d like us to talk about, please let us know. One of the best parts of being a romance writer is research. So what draws us to certain people? What makes us want to follow them and watch everything they do?

On our latest Podcast, my daughter, Storm Navarro, and I debate the top ten men of movies and television. I had one she didn’t really know, Pierce Brosnan. She had several I didn’t know: Pablo Schreiber, David Gandy, and Aldis Hodge.

After we stated our case, these were the men left out in the cold: Zac Efron, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pine, Lee Pace, Gerard Butler, Russel Crowe and Steven Yeun.

So who did make our list? Listen to the podcast and you can jump in on the debate.

After the podcast post, scroll down and you’ll see I created our list with pictures. So enjoy!

#10 Henry Cavill

#10 Henry Cavill

From Superman to Witcher, and the underrated THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E, he has a jawline made for the big screen (or the smaller ones in our homes). A self proclaimed gaming nerd and the fourth born of five brothers, he has a very sarcastic sense of humor that might get him in trouble. He gets very involved in his roles, from designing the sword in Witcher to being a Chiefs football fan because Clark Kent is from Kansas.

#9 Aldis Hodge

This is one of Storm’s picks. He is in the INVISABLE MAN and LEVERAGE and STRAIGHT OUT OF COMPTON, and one of our favorites, HIDDEN FIGURES. In Hidden Figures he gives one of the best romantic gestures. His character was not supportive of his wife going to college to get her engineering degree in the beginning. Right before she goes, she gets nervous and starts to doubt herself. Instead of telling her not to go, he gives her a set of pencils to let her know she does have his support. It makes me sigh just thinking about it.

#8 David Gandy

David changed the modeling world for men when his friend and flatmate signed him up for a modeling competition. At the time, skinny, slender men–almost feminine–were all the industry wanted. We are so glad he was given that chance to set trends and change fashion.

# 7 Tom Hardy

This actor can be found in a very wide range of style and genre. From THIS IS WAR to BAND OF BROTHERS to BATMAN: The DARK KNIGHT RISES and the remake of MAD MAX. But he has our hearts for his love of dogs.

# 6 Regé-Jean Page

Zimbabwean British actor is up-and-coming. He is one of four boys and was in a band with one of his brothers before acting. Yes, he can sing and write music too. We discovered him as the Duke in the Netflix smash hit, Bridgerton. But that wasn’t his first acting job. He’s been in Sylvie’s Love, For The People, and the remake of ROOTS just to name a few. He also showed off his comedic skills on SNL. We will be watching out for more from this very talented actor.

# Chris Evans

Here is an actor that has stolen our hearts on and off the screen. From saving the world in movies to visiting hospitals to bring a little joy to children that are sick. He is always the first to offer an arm when he sees someone struggling. Sigh. Even his ex-girlfriend called him the nicest human on the Earth. He might be moving on from Captain America but we know he will continue doing great things.

# 4 Jason Momoa

There is just something about this man that screams MAN. LOL He also might be a huge overgrown child. He definitely knows how to have a good time and loves living life as natural as possible with his family. He is very vocal about his love for his wife, children, and the Earth we call home. When not acting, he is spending his time finding ways to protect the planet, from the oceans to the mountains of Hawaii.

#3 Idris Elba

There is something about this man that keeps our gaze on him in whatever movie he is in. From a god in the world of super heroes (Avengers) to a doctor trapped on the side of a mountain in THE MOUNTIAN BEWTEEN US, he brings charisma to the screen.

# 2 Michael B. Jordan

He has been acting and modeling since he was a child. If you watched All My Children you might recognize him from his Soap days. He brings passion and talent to every role he tackles. Creed and Black Panther have been his most recent movies. In 2020, People Magazine named him Sexiest Man Alive. GQ called him Man of the Year in 2018…We agree with both of those.

# 1 HUGH JACKMAN

Yes, I might have had a hand in putting him first. He is 3rd on Storm’s list. But come on, he has won a Tony and has been nominated for an Oscar. He has it all. From romantic comedies, epic musicals, and super hero movies, this song and dance man had proven he can act. But there is so much more to him than his stage presence. His love for his family, and wanting to make the world a better place, has him as my number 1. He is also the only one I met in person so there is that. He was not a disappointment in any way.

What do you think? Who would you put on the list and why?

Horse - the first love for many a girl

H – Horse. If I were Queen every little girl would get a pony!

H for Horse or Hugh?
H for Horse or Hugh?

I think most little girls at one point in their life would have picked horses over any prince charming. Why do we love horses or at least the idea of have a horse.

I have to say  some of my best friends growing up were horses: Smokey, Mitzi, Pancho, Marya, Jet Set Lena and Tank are just of few of the horse that gave me the honor of riding with them. I also played with Barbie’s horse and she rode with the Lone Ranger, yes I owned Silver. I have several model horses and poster of horses.

“He’s of the color of the nutmeg. And of the heat of the ginger…. he is pure air and fire; and the dull elements of earth and water never appear in him, but only in patient stillness while his rider mounts him; he is indeed a horse, and all other jades you may call beasts.”
William Shakespeare, Henry V

Horse are secondary character in most of my stories. I was blessed to be raised by a mother that loved horses. We always had them in our life. Her grandfather was a farmer and horse trainer for the Army.

It runs strong in our family. The pictures are my cousin Audrey.

A for Aging – 9 Sexy men over 50…Who is the 10th

The first day of the A to Z blog challenge is here!

I have been thinking about age…my Mr. Dark & Handsome just turned 50! What!? How could that  be – we are still so young, right? Everyone says that 50 is the new 30 and with Mr. D&H I think it might be true. As we age so are our favorite actors. Hey, that starts with an A also.  So I made a list of a few of my favorite aging actors that are taking a bite out of middle-age and making it a time to celebrate life. Aging is not a bad thing – it is either get older or die so I want to age with joy and pride. And if my Mr. D&H ages as these guys – well score for me. HAHA

# 1 One of my first TV crushes. He has loved and lost. After saying he would never marry again he has found love for the second time.

# 2 Denzel Washington, 60 – I think I fell in love with him in Glory. He seems so down to earth and grounded. A hard, gritty core surrounded by class and sophistication. What is not to love.

#3 George Clooney 53. The man who says he will never marries then when in his 50s falls hard. George is another one that had gotten better with age and you can’t have a list of sexy over 50 without him on it.

# 5 Robert Downey Jr has had a hard journey and is open an honest about past mistakes. We love the reformed bad boy, don’t we? He’s smart, funny and I imagine high maintenance to live with and love. But you can’t help but love him. Mr. Iron man just turned 50.

#7  Jon Bon Jovi 53 is still married to his high school sweetheart. They were married the same year Mr. D&H married me. (1989) I would think being being married to a star rocker could be a challenge but they seem to have made it work. Again with the jaw!

And talk about triple threat this man can do it all.  Plus he has been married for twenty years to a women that is ten years older than him.

2014-football-1So I’m proud of my own hero – I think he can hold his own with the best of them.

So that leaves number 10 – I need your help. Who did I forget? Who would you put on the list?

K is for Kissing in the Rain

Yes, I’m a few days behind on my blog challenge, so to make it up,  I’m listing my top five favorite kissing in the rain movie scenes. K is for Kissing in the Rain

1) Has to be Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Something about the desperate lip lock in the pouring rain is so…so primal.

In my up coming book, Lone Star Hero, she kisses her hero in the rain. Have to say it was one of my favorite scene to write.

In real life it might be more awkward and cold than romantic but that’s why we love fiction. Here are my 2-5

2) Spiderman

4) Australia  (Hugh Jackman)

5) 50 First Dates

Did I miss one of your favorites?

With age, you s…

With age, you see people fail more. You see yourself fail more. How do you keep that fearlessness of a kid? You keep going. Luckily, I’m not afraid to make a fool of myself. – Hugh Jackman

In the A to Z blogging challange we have arrived to the letter  J….uhmm…what do you think comes to mind?  I know an actor that has the last name of Jackman.

Is that Hugh Jackman on my blog again? He really needs to stop following me.
Is that Hugh Jackman on my blog again? He really needs to stop following me.

Another J that brings me joy is Jackson Pollock – “I have no fear of making changes, destroying the image, etc., because the painting has a life of its own.”

If you have never “dripped painted” before, you should try it…it really is a joyful experience.

Jackson Pollock Number 8 1949

Now that I think about it – the person that brings me the most joy is Fred, his real name is Jesus. Yes, ironic because that makes me think of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who I give joyful thanks for everything in my life. The word teaches us to live a life without fear.

2 Timothy 1:7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

(self-control, really? – the whole eating habit thing keeps haunting me.)

What inspires you? How do you get past the fear to be the person you where created to be? Fearless?

H is for Hero – Do you really need one?

I’m a child of the 80’s and one of my favorite past-times was watching MTV at my BF, DeDe’s house. (I lived out of town and only got four stations.) Bonnie Taylor’s song, Holding Out for a Hero, was one we loved watching over and over again. Looking at it now I find it a little bazaar and twisted.

My mom said, “She doesn’t need a hero, get that girl a gun.” My mother was a wee bit independent and yes, we had a 22 hanging over our front door. Always loaded, because you might need it, but that’s a story for another day.

Now I write about hero’s and post pictures of my favorites.

Hugh starts with an H too.
Hugh starts with an H too.

Yes, readers and writers know the difference between reality and fantasy. That’s the point. I mean when we watched Wizard of Oz we knew clicking our heels wouldn’t get us anywhere, we might imagine it, but we knew it wouldn’t really happen.

Same way with the heroes in romance novels. We want them to seem real, but not too real. That’s part of the fun, right?

There are all kind of heroes: the bad boy, the lawman, superheroes, and poets. You have the classic prince and outlaw. Some tortured souls and others are healers. The warriors and protectors stand strong above all others. The man that will sacrifice all for love even his ego.

Chris Hemsworth as Thor - in the rain.
Chris Hemsworth as Thor – in the rain.
Come on, I can’t talk about heroes without at least one picture of Thor. (Shout out Joni Hahn and Sasha Summers)

When we close the book, the real heroes are in our lives, men and women that are there everyday, are waiting for us even when we sneak away to another world.

What is your favorite kind of hero? If you leave a name or post a photo, I’m add them to my hero board in pinterest.

One more of Hugh, just because I can.

A is for the Amazing Men of Australia

I am taking on the Blogging A to Z April challenge. http://www.a-to-zchallenge.com Some how my post was here this morning, but when I got home it was nowhere to be seen. I smell an evil conspiracy so I’m calling a do over.
My theme is JOY and Happiness! Is there a better way to start out than the Amazing men of Australia? Enjoy

Hughsday & Freday collide!

Hughsday & Freday collide!

A few months back I deemed the day after Monday – Hughsday. You know for Hugh Jackman. Why not, right? He seems to be a truly beautiful man, husband, father and all around talent.

There is another amazing man in my life, Fred Navarro. (I pretend Hugh is actually in my life – I’m good at fiction) I know first hand that Fred is an outstanding man, husband father. Well, I gave him his own day also….because I can. He gets my favorite day, Freday.
Today the universe is aligning my obsessions hobbies on this special Hughsday, March 25, Fred turns 49. SO the two days have collided into one perfect day for me. Happy Birthday Fred Navarro.

Enjoying Life.

Can Matthew McConaughey hold his own against Hugh Jackman & Chris Hemsworth?

If you know me at all you know how much I admire Hugh Jackman.

Sigh…What was I saying? Oh, yes. A couple of my friends are dedicated to Chris Hemsworth, so they were doing Thorsday every Thursday.

I thought that was clever of them and it got me to thinking about my little crush on Hugh.

So I started Hughday. The power of Hugh Jackman as WolverineFun, right?

Sometimes we need just a little bit of inspiration.

As a romance writer I have to research the perfect image for my heroes. Yes, it is a tough job, looking for just that right male for your next story. The face that will spark the inner conflict that will drive your plot and keep your readers turning pages. It is serous business…it is.

Well, Sunday night Mathew McConaughey, Texas Son with the smoothest voice, won Best Actor.

Now I’m on the hunt for the right word…Matthewday? uh….McConauday? …maybe Matthew McConaughey Monday? or just Alright, alright alright…Monday.  That’s a mouth full.

What do you think? Matthew’s day might end up being a temporary one…I mean he IS up against Hughday, Thorsday and Freday. Freday? you ask…For those of you new, I picked the perfect day to honor my real life perfect hero. Fred Navarro – Freday – perfect, right?

So Please let me know what you think about McConauday? Maybe you have something better? Some in my house think this post was just an excuse to play with these pictures. Really?
